Insightful Healthy Homes

Zero Ready Community

The objective of the Canadian Zero Ready Community in Shanghai is to develop, deploy and promote clean technologies in the building of an energy efficient and sustainable cluster of housing with zero energy ready standards with emphasis on the integration of affordable and clean energy technology on a multi-dwelling scale.

This project will build a cluster of low-rise residential buildings with zero energy ready standard at Daan Santa Barbara Garden in the suburb of Shanghai. When finished, these zero energy ready buildings will consume 75% to 80% less energy than a conventional house and will become 100% zero energy as components, particularly renewable energy systems, are installed over time when they are more affordable and economical; furthermore, these installations will require no modifications to the buildings. These factors, including a reasonable construction cost, will allow these buildings to be sold in the market at a competitive price.

In addition to the buildings, the project will feature sustainable design in the community, such as rain water and waste management. This projects will look for opportunities to implement sustainable technologies and features in the community as it is designed and built in conjunction with the buildings.

With the success of Super E in China, both technical and marketing, the developer, Daan, committed to reach a higher level in energy efficiency and sustainability in the next stage of development in Santa Barbara Garden.
