The proposed Shanghai Canadian Net Zero Energy Demonstration Home (S-C NZEH) is supported by NRCAN, CMHC and the Canadian Asia Pacific Partnership Secretariat. It is proposed that Canada will provide the design and construction support for the S-C NZEH. The proposed S-C NZEH will be constructed in wood frame with a highly insulated and air-sealed building envelope. High performance windows and an ERV from Canada will be used. Active and passive solar space heating options will be explored. Seasonal storage of solar thermal energy using phase change material will also be studied.

Insightful Healthy Homes Inc. was selected as one of the experts in the Canadian design team. As part of the design team, Insightful will collaborate with other members of the Canadian team to develop the overall design of SC-NZEH.
